Executive team

Joe Simpson

Chairman
Joe is best known in the legal services industry following a long and distinguished career at national law firm Irwin Mitchell, where he was a main Board member from 1992 until  2013. During that time, Joe helped guide Irwin Mitchell as it grew into one of the UK’s largest and most respected legal brands. 

During his career at Irwin Mitchell he led the development of market facing teams that were able to deliver high quality legal services based upon highly engineered processes .

In 2011 Joe was recognised in The Lawyer Magazine's "Hot 100" and was praised for his "work in developing pioneering legal products."

He was the first COLP at the firm.

He was also member of The Law Society Ad Hoc Committee on Legal Outsourcing and contributed to its final report for the Law Society in 2010.    Joe will combine the role of Chairman with client management and strategy development.

Mark Smith

CEO
 Mark has extensive executive and advisory experience across the legal, financial services and business process management (BPM)sectors. 

His relevant experience has included;
  • Managing Director at Capita Insurance Service
  • Operations Director at Aon 
  • Heading up a Global Outsourcing Practice 

He has advised  a number of national law firms on operational/commercial restructuring as well as  a number of national/international BPM organisations.  Mark will lead the day to day operations,  business development and work with the Board on strategic matters.

Mark Tattersall

Finance Director
Mark is a  qualified accountant with nearly 30 years post-qualification experience. He has operated as a senior executive in a range of organisations within both the private and public sectors, including London Scottish Bank plc, Leeds Building Society, the Co-operative Bank and the BBC. 

He has led change management initiatives within various organisations including mergers, acquisitions and subsequent business integration programmes. Mark has extensive negotiation experience involving raising bank finance, acquisitions, disposals, supplier contracts. As an executive director he has presented numerous business cases to PLC boards covering, for example, major investments and restructuring.         

Mark was a PLC director for nine years and has held a number of non-executive roles since 2007. He is currently Deputy Chair of Your Housing Group. During this time he has also operated as a financial management consultant for business across a wide range of sectors.

 

Govind Sandhu

Director
Govind has worked in business process management and technology since the late 1990s . He has high level operational and financial experience in business development and has worked with leading names in the industry including TCS, Capita and WNS. Immediately prior to joining Zecter, Govind was Director Business Services at Capita (India); heading national strategy, capability development, business transformation and mergers & acquisitions. His work as CFO and Head of Business Transformation at WNS (Aviva business unit) saw him manage a significant business unit with over 6,000 staff and a turnover in excess of US$100million.

Govind has frequently managed relationships with large customer bases, ensuring common delivery capability is aligned to meet operational and financial goals. He has worked with companies at various stages in their development life cycle.

He is an economics graduate with an MBA in marketing and ecommerce; and he has a keen personal interest in clean technology and carbon markets.

Viv Williams

Director
A well known figure in the legal services industry, Viv founded and grew 360 Legal Group to become a leading consultant to law firms – providing strategy, management, practice, development and marketing advice.

Viv’s experience is broad; encompassing marketing to taking up the role of managing director at two publicly listed companies. He has the necessary experience to provide an invaluable practical management insight that applies to all professional services firms.

Viv has previously worked for Hammonds, Charter & Law Group, assisting both lawyers and accountants to improve their management systems, marketing strategies and ultimately to increase profitability.  He has also presented numerous seminars and conferences focusing on facilitation of law firm strategy, turnaround and merger and acquisitions.
